Sound Control 2 is a FREE upgrade to owners of Sound Control 1.

Version 2.3.0:

  • Initial compatibility with T2 Macs. (iMac Pro, 2018 MacBook Pro, 2018 Mac mini).
  • Optional per-app balance.
  • EQ can now be adjusted independently for left and right channels.
  • Can now optionally control website volumes independently.
  • Fixed priority devices when running without additional components installed.
  • Added hot key for toggling Sound Control on/off.
  • Added option to suppress the “Missing Components” dialog at launch.
  • Smoother slider adjustments in the EQ.
  • Fixed meters for apps that have subprocesses, such as Safari.
  • Fixed issue that could cause meters to get stuck.
  • Better prev/next device hot key behavior.
  • Fixed double beep that could occur when “Force Keyboard Volume Control” is enabled.
  • Output devices now show consistent mute and volume settings.

Version 2.2.6:

  • Fixed priority devices on Mojave.
  • Better On/Off switch behavior.
  • Fixed crackling audio that could occur on HDMI and DisplayPort.
  • Fixed a memory leak on Mojave.
  • Master Volume and Other Apps items can now be removed from the menu.
  • Option-drag added to volume sliders for fine control.
  • Fixed bug that caused audio playback to fail after wake from sleep.
  • Uninstaller now removes STZAudioBridge.driver on Mojave.
  • Added option to make Sound Control menu bar icon match the system speaker icon, including current volume level.
  • “Sound Siphon” input device is no longer shown unless Sound Siphon is installed and run.

  • Added animated audio levels. (Can be disabled in preferences.)
  • Now uses drag n drop install from the disk image.

  • Now works with full duplex bluetooth audio devices.

Version 2.2.2:

  • Can now choose between the sliders and octopus for the menu bar item.
  • Fixed indicator colors for enabled items.
  • Apps that haven’t previously been used with Sound Control now default to the “Other Apps” volume.
  • Made some diagnostics available to users to aid in troubleshooting.
  • No longer asks for Quit confirmation on shutdown, restart, or logout.
  • Master volume now ramps smoothly after quitting Sound Control.

  • Better “My Presets” layout and behavior.
  • Quitting Sound Control now disable per-app routing properly.

Version 2.2.0

  • Hot keys now work immediately after reboot, no longer requiring the Sound Control menu to be shown to work.
  • Now handles incremental volume changes with the keyboard.
  • Added incremental volume change hotkeys.
  • Added hotkeys for switching to the next and previous output device.
  • Added hotkey for muting the default input device (device must support muting).
  • Fixed routing for Safari and some other apps that use subprocesses.
  • Added Touch Bar support for Macs that have one.
  • When quitting Sound Control an alert is now shown advising the user that volumes will return to normal levels.
  • After quitting Sound Control the volume is gradually increased to normal levels over 10 seconds.
  • Now requires 10.11+.
